Austin residents can look forward to a couple of relatively dry days before a storm system ushers in a fresh round of rain and potential thunderstorms later this weekend, according to weather forecasts. Today’s weather, as reported by forecast.weather.gov, predicts mostly sunny skies with a high near 75 degrees and a north wind shifting east in the afternoon.
There was a gusty finish to the week with wind speeds recorded up to 33 mph in the region, KXAN reports, and clouds will be on the upswing from tonight, marking a "warmer" start to Sunday with lows dipping to the mid-50s, the winds will then shift coming from the northeast to east at 5 to 10 mph, however, the sky will remain mostly cloudy with a few isolated rain areas possibly appearing late afternoon. KXAN also notes that gusty south winds will pervade the area Sunday, with a risk of the weather escalating into more severe conditions come Sunday night.

As for precipitation, a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms is projected for late Sunday into Monday, with temperatures expected to hover in the mid-70s. The beginning of the week might still see some scattered showers, but by Monday night, the skies are expected to clear leading to partly cloudy conditions and a drop in temperature to around 52 degrees.
Looking ahead into the week, the threat of severe storms diminishes significantly, "The severe storm risk is a Marginal 1 out of 5" over certain counties to the north and west Austin and by 7 a.m. Monday, the tumult is expected to calm with hail and high wind gusts being the main concerns as outlined by KXAN. Unlike the start of the week, Wednesday is predicted to have a few widely scattered showers with the rest of the week maintaining dry conditions, and by Friday the city will bask under mostly sunny skies with temperatures rising to a cozy 81 degrees.
Sunny days are anticipated for the remainder of the week, with highs floating in the low to mid-70s. The rest of the week beyond Monday looks to have higher pressure, promising a brighter and drier outlook for Austin residents.
