The Austin Police Department is ramping up its game to tackle drunk driving during the Spring Break holiday, launching an "Extended DWI No Refusal Enforcement Period" from March 7 to March 17, a move that's part and parcel of the annual safety strategy during high-traffic events, as reported by Austin Police Department.
Partnering with the Austin Transportation and Public Works Department, APD's initiative is set to kick into high gear by legally pursuing blood search warrants for those feisty individuals who buckle at the idea of providing a breath or blood sample and it's aiming to keep the bad decision-makers off the roads and highways, where lives are all too often hitched to a fleeting moment of misguided judgement.
"The Department is dedicated to making the roadways and waterways of Austin safe for residents and visitors through education and enforcement," according to the Austin Police Department.
