Taylor police are investigating a disturbing report that two men followed a 10-year-old child who had just stepped off a school bus, then allegedly chased the child on foot before a bystander intervened. The child's father told police the incident happened near Tribute Boulevard and Greinert Drive as his child walked home from the bus drop-off point.
According to KWTX, Taylor Police said they are investigating “suspicious circumstances” that allegedly happened around 3:50 p.m. on October 26 near that intersection. The father reported around 4:05 p.m. that same day that his 10-year-old had been followed by two men while walking home from the bus stop, per the station's report. As reported by CBS Austin, police say the men were observed exiting a black Jeep-style vehicle while wearing all-black clothing before walking toward the child.
Not every outlet agrees on the exact date of the incident. KWTX and FOX 7 Austin both cite police as placing the incident on October 26, while the Taylor Press reported, citing a city statement, that it occurred around 3:50 p.m. on October 27. FOX 7 Austin noted its information came from a Taylor Police Department press release issued October 27.
Child Ran, Men Allegedly Gave Chase
Per the same account, when the child saw the two men approaching and began to run, the men allegedly ran in the child's direction as well. An unidentified man in a nearby yard then shouted at the two men to stop following the child, according to the child's report relayed through police.
After being confronted, the two men reportedly returned to their vehicle and drove eastbound on Tribute Boulevard toward North Drive, leaving the area. Taylor police continue investigating the incident and have not released additional details about the men's identities, descriptions, or the vehicle's license plate.
