
Authorities are on the hunt for a suspect accused of arson at the Econo Lodge on Wurzbach Road near Leon Valley. In the early hours of Monday morning, a room within the motel was deliberately set ablaze, prompting an emergency response, as per reports by KENS 5.
Firefighters were called to the scene after 2 a.m. and discovered flames in one of the guest rooms. They were able to extinguish the fire rapidly. As consequence of the incident, several guests were evacuated from their rooms, though, thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Leon Valley Police officials have not yet released a description of the suspect involved in the fire.
The event has rattled both guests and employees of the motel, located in the 5330 block of Wurzbach Road. The motives behind the arson remain as obscure as the identity of the person who committed the act. The Leon Valley Fire Department joined the police in responding to the emergency call, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
While the exact cost of the damage caused to the motel has not been disclosed, the incident continues to be a focus of local law enforcement.
