Chaos erupted in an East Bexar County neighborhood last week when an argument over a near-miss with playing children quickly escalated to violence, and now authorities are on the hunt for the alleged perpetrator.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is appealing to the public to help locate 45-year-old Marlon Springs, who stands accused of second-offense assault family violence. According to officials, deputies were called to a residence on March 3 following reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they found a woman with one eye swollen shut and a cut to her eyelid, injuries sustained, it appears, following a heated exchange with a neighbor and an altercation with Springs, who is said to now be romantically involved with the other woman involved in the dispute. Springs allegedly began to not only shout but also to easily become physical, launching an attack on the victim that culminated in the reported injuries.
The incident reportedly began when the victim—whose name has not been released—confronted her neighbor about driving recklessly near children playing outside the apartment complex. Springs arrived shortly after the initial argument, and the situation rapidly deteriorated, according to the report. The victim managed to extricate herself and sought assistance, while Springs fled back to his apartment and then absconded before authorities could apprehend him.
Described as a 6-foot-1 man weighing approximately 215 pounds, Springs is known to frequent the East Bexar County area. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. With the assailant still at large, the BCSO is employing the public's help to quickly bring him into custody.
