Tragedy struck in Clackamas County as a body was found amidst the charred remains of a fire on SE Flavel Drive. According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, deputies rushed to the scene in the early hours of March 21, after a report of a suspicious death linked to the blaze.
Firefighters from Clackamas Fire District #1 originally raced to tackle the flames that engulfed the 8000 block of SE Flavel Drive around 1:30 a.m. It was in the process of extinguishing the fire that they stumbled upon the deceased victim, prompting them to immediately call in law enforcement. On the scene, detectives and crime scene investigators, alongside arson and fire experts, began to sift carefully through the debris to gather any clues that could aid their investigation and to thoroughly examine the causes of the inferno and the death.
The victim's identity remains unknown as investigators work meticulously to piece together the events that led up to this fatality. Sheriff’s Office detectives are reaching out, asking anyone with information to come forward and assist in this ongoing investigation. The collaborative effort now involves the collective expertise of the Sheriff's Office detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, an arson investigator from the Oregon State Police, fire investigators from Clackamas Fire, and the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
