Though the conflagration was intense, firefighters were able to contain it. "Companies did a great job at keeping fire to 1 bldg @ 418 Bowdoin St in Dorchester even though radiant heat affected close neighbors," Boston Fire Deparment stated. In the aftermath, crews have transitioned into a detail phase, addressing hot spots and ensuring the scene remains secure. Unfortunately, the night was not without casualty, a firefighter suffered minor injuries during the ordeal and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Neighbors and onlookers expressed their gratitude for the firefighters' quick response and control of the situation that potentially saved lives and homes.
