The temperature dips tonight to around 36, and Wednesday will see similar conditions. But the real change kicks in later in the week, with a surge in temperatures possibly bringing in 60-degree weather.
In the meantime, it's the coastal areas that'll feel the ocean's chill influence. A forecast from NBC Boston warns of sea breezes by Wednesday, creating "a big disparity in temperatures" – inland areas can expect quasi-summer conditions, while the coast shivers closer to 50 degrees. Speaking of sea breezes, they will be enough to "hold back the sea breeze Tuesday," as Boston primes itself for the warmer tide ahead.
The rest of the week remains a blend of clouds and sun. Thursday's forecast teases partly sunny skies with a high nearing 57 degrees, but as the day melts into night, clouds will thicken. And those carrying umbrellas will find use for them come Friday, as showers roll in with a 50 percent chance of rain, cooling the high down to 50.
Looking ahead to the weekend, wetter weather seems to be on the agenda. Forecasters are unsure about a brewing system but, showers are likely Friday night and they might linger on and off through the weekend - with a mix of clouds and chances for showers on both Saturday and Sunday. The hint of optimism for St. Patrick's Day celebrations comes from NBC Boston, which admits, "We’ll need the luck of the Irish to hold back the wet weather for Sunday afternoon." With Boston's high expected to hover around 54 degrees on the greener Sunday, those festivities could be dampened if luck doesn't sway in their favor.
Despite the imminent showers, the week starts to clear up as it comes to a close. Monday is set to deliver partly sunny skies and a high near 53, potentially leaving Bostonians with a taste of clear skies and calm before whatever nature spins next.
