According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the altercation broke out on February 26 at the B.E.S.T. Academy during a 7v7 All-Star football event, law enforcement quickly responded, and while some individuals fled the scene, Newton's group remained but did not seek medical help or wish to take legal action, the scuffle was reportedly sparked by taunts between Newton and coaches Steph Brown and TJ Brown, formerly of Newton's program.
Newton, known for his tenure with the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, didn't appear to throw any punches in the viral clip, seeming to hold off the three men instead, an APD officer recognized him by his distinctive hat and hairstyle during the mayhem. The officers completed an incident report documenting the event, although the initial cause of the confrontation remains unclear.
The 34-year-old Atlanta native, who has not played in the NFL since 2021, pours his efforts into C1N, an organization aiming to nurture young talent in the sport; his under 15 7v7 team claimed victory at the tournament where the incident unfolded, a testament to the spirit of the program which emphasizes growth on and off the field, this is stated on Newton's website.
