Tragedy struck at Chandler's Snedigar Sports Complex on March 10th, where gunfire erupted, leaving one teenager dead and two others wounded. Police have now clamped down on the suspect, a 19-year-old man from Casa Grande, who is accused of pulling the trigger in an incident that has sent ripples of fear through the community.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the deadly encounter unfolded just before 9 p.m., when Chandler PD was called to the scene responding to gunshots. Upon arrival, they found three victims with gunshot wounds. Sixteen-year-old Jaylan Collins of Queen Creek was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other victims, a pair of 17-year-olds from San Tan Valley, managed to survive.
The swift action of the Chandler Police Department led to the capture of Javion Keandre Brown. Brown, who was arrested on March 14, stands accused of first-degree murder among other charges. This quick apprehension was crucial in bringing a measure of solace to a community reeling from the spate of violence directed against its young people.
As reported by 12 News, Brown was taken into custody in Casa Grande and is currently facing multiple felony charges. In their ongoing investigation, Chandler detectives are still gathering evidence and seeking assistance from the public.
