Residents of Cedar Park have reason to celebrate after officials marked the completion of a major local infrastructure project aimed to smoothly improve traffic and safety in the bustling Texas suburb. The city marked the completion of the Anderson Mill Road Phase 2 project on Tuesday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city officials, project engineers, and residents eager to see the fruits of the city's labor and investment.

The project, which cost north of $12 million, was a hefty portion paid for by the General Obligation 2022 Bond Program, which taxpayers voted for. It expanded a critical stretch of Anderson Mill Road between Cypress Creek Road and Whitestone Boulevard (RM 1431) by adding an extra lane in both the north and southbound directions, right turn lanes, and tackled the much-needed drainage issue with a new curb, gutter, and inlets, as reported by the City of Cedar Park.

Keeping pedestrians in mind, improvements also included better sidewalks and a new pedestrian crossing at Lime Creek Road. For drivers, a fresh traffic signal was installed at the Grand Falls intersection, an addition expected to aid in reducing traffic snarls and improving overall road safety. The city has signaled a commitment to these types of infrastructure upgrades as part of a larger initiative.

Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin, at the anteceding event, remarked on the significance of the project for Cedar Park residents: "The Anderson Mill Road Phase 2 project enhances mobility in Cedar Park. It adds capacity to a major north-south arterial and completes road widening between RM 620 and RM 1431 the addition of a traffic light and pedestrian crossing are in keeping with the Council’s and City’s greater vision for safety and multi-modal mobility set out in our Mobility Master Plan." Mayor Penniman-Morinsaid, as per the Cedar Park.
