
The Chicago Police Department has issued a warning for residents of the 12th and 14th Districts regarding a series of armed robberies, marked by the criminals' blatant use of force or the threatening display of handguns with extended magazines. Perpetrators, traveling in a Silver Infiniti Q50 with license plate EH37083, have been targeting unsuspecting victims, demanding their personal belongings before disappearing in the vehicle they arrived in, the department detailed on their website.
These brazen heists occurred at disparate locations including the first in the 100 Block of South Aberdeen Ave on March 5, around 5:24 AM followed by two back-to-back incidents, one on the 3200 Block of West Armitage Ave at about 1:30 AM and another on the 1500 Block of North Hoyne Ave on March 7, at approximately 3:37 AM, it is a disturbing pattern that has emerged shaking the sense of safety among the community members.
According to the CPD's description, the suspects are four male individuals, believed to be within the age group of 20-30, these men concealed their identities with black ski masks and were attired in uniform black–hooded sweatshirts, pants, and grim accessories of handguns that bore extended magazines. The assailants' build ranged from 5'08" to 5'10" height and weighed between 150-200 lbs.
In response to the rising threat, authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and to prioritize personal safety by maintaining awareness of their surroundings, avoiding walking alone at off hours, refraining from carrying large amounts of cash, foregoing any confrontation that could lead to injury and preferring to park in well-lit, trafficked areas – these measures can perhaps tilt the odds in favor of safety, however, there's an undeniable tension as residents are prompted to heighten their guards and to report any suspicion to 911 without delay, in hopes to prevent further victimization and aid the police in apprehending the culprits.
