A 24-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after being arrested in Chicago's South Side, authorities said Friday. Marshon Scott, from the 6900 block of S. Cornell Ave., was taken into custody on February 29 and is accused of the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old man last December.
The suspect was apprehended in connection with a shooting that occurred on December 20, 2023, at around 12:58 p.m. in the 700 block of E. 87th St., according to the Chicago Police Department. Scott now faces one felony count of first-degree murder as well as two counts related to the issuance of a warrant; his detention hearing is scheduled for today at the court located at 2600 S. California.
Details about the incident have been sparse with the Chicago Police Department declining to release further information at this point the circumstances of the arrest and connection to the crime have not been made clear.
