A teenager on the South Side has been slapped with felony charges after cops say he flashed a gun and robbed two young men.
The Chicago Police Department confirmed a 15-year-old boy is facing two counts of armed robbery. This rough and tumble teen allegedly aimed a firearm to purloin property from a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old late last February, authorities said.
Aiming to crack down on street crimes that have locals on edge, detectives have brought the juvenile to book following his March 8 arrest. PD caught up with the accused in the 6500 block of S. Racine Ave, a mere stone's throw from where the bold heists occurred.
Chicago Police noted the incriminated teenager was one of the suspects in the armed mugging that took place in the 6700 block of S. Elizabeth St. No further perpetrators have been netted at this time.
As the youth faces the music in the Windy City's courts, further details on the case remain under wraps. The community, meanwhile, is left to grapple with the reverberations of crime that digs into the psyche of every resident who hopes for the simple guarantee of safety on their streets.
