As Chicagoans gear up for the workweek, Mother Nature seems to have some fluctuating conditions in store. According to the National Weather Service, the outlook for today is sunny with a high near 45 degrees, and increasing warmth is expected heading into the week. Tonight's forecast promises clear skies with a low of around 33.
Ample sunshine and seasonable temperatures are in store for today. Unseasonably mild temperatures return for the first half of this upcoming workweek, along with a couple of mid-week opportunities for showers and thunderstorms. #ilwx #inwx pic.twitter.com/gKj65xzzaj

Starting Monday, the city can bask in sunny skies and a significant temperature hike to nearly 62 degrees, although it does come with a breeze that could bring gusts as high as 30 mph. The windy trend continues into the evening, with lows anticipated around 46 degrees. The National Weather Service also highlighted, "Elevated Fire Weather Risk" for Monday afternoon, reminding residents of the potential dangers of dry and windy conditions.
Midweek weather means a dip back into cooler temperatures with Tuesday sporting partly sunny skies and a brisk high near 66. However, come Tuesday night through Thursday, Chicagoans should be on the lookout for "Limited Thunderstorm Risk at times," as reported by the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook. A mishmash of showers and possible thunderstorms are on the radar, with highs settling near 48 by Thursday.
The waters of Lake Michigan won't be very welcoming for mariners either, with the National Weather Service predicting, "Hazardous conditions for small craft" lasting through the weekend. On land, Chicagoans should keep an umbrella close, as opportunities for showers persist into Friday, with cloudy skies and high temperatures hovering around 51 degrees. The weekend softens slightly with partial sunshine and highs in the low 50s, though the air, will chill somewhat dropping to the upper 30s by Friday night.
Overall, while the workweek in Chicago starts with an unseasonable warmth and a clear azure canopy, as noted by NWS Chicago on Twitter, it's the potential for thunderstorms and windy conditions that will have locals wondering if March intends to exit like a lion or a lamb. In any case, residents should prepare for a bit of everything and keep an eye on the skies.
