A Columbus, Georgia man was arrested following an incident that transpired on a Royal Caribbean cruise, where he is accused of engaging in lewd behavior with a 14-year-old in the ship's sauna. The arrest took place after the Explorer of the Seas docked back at PortMiami, as reported by Miami-Dade police.
Anish Shan, 21, is said to have approached the teenage boy around 7 p.m. while in international waters last Tuesday. After learning the boy's age, Shan allegedly exposed himself and began to masturbate, all the while maintaining eye contact with the minor, according to the arrest report obtained by Local 10 News. Furthermore, police claim that Shan then propositioned the boy for oral sex, an offer which the boy declined.
The details of whether Shan was detained immediately after the incident remain unclear, however, he was taken into custody by authorities last Friday. He has been charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child under 16, as was detailed in a report by WTVM.
Following his arrest, Shan was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $12,500 bond. Additionally, a judge has ordered him to avoid any contact with the teenager involved. Royal Caribbean has yet to make a statement concerning the incident. Police have redacted what is alleged to be a confession from Shan in the arrest report, though specifics have not been made public.
