A Coral Springs man was convicted on Wednesday for the murder of a restaurant worker back in 2011, an incident that has finally reached its judicial conclusion after over a decade. Kadian Andre Garfield Roper, 43, was found guilty of second-degree murder, a verdict that could land him life behind bars, as reported by the Sun Sentinel. The Broward Circuit Judge Tim Bailey has yet to impose Roper's sentence, which is set for a May 1st hearing, pending results of a pre-sentencing investigation.

Roper's conviction stems from a botched burglary on July 11, 2011, wherein he and accomplice Jason Martinez intruded upon an expected vacant home. They aimed to rob a suspected marijuana dealer but instead encountered Michael Todd Hamilton who challenged them, the gruesome aftermath painting a picture of the crime for investigators to unravel. The bloodied scene, primarily marked by the blood of victim Hamilton, also bore samples belonging to Roper and Martinez, according to the information revealed in the case.

Martinez, Roper's associate in the ill-fated burglary turned murder, was convicted last year and is currently serving a life sentence. This detail was gleaned from the X account of Rod Hagwood who reported on the conviction.
