The Corpus Christi community has rallied together in a desperate search for Caleb Harris, the 21-year-old college student from New Braunfels who vanished over two weeks ago. Volunteers, alongside local law enforcement, are scouring the region for any sign of Harris, whose last known activity was walking his dog near his off-campus apartment.
Recent efforts saw the United States Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi deploying a helicopter team to assist in the search. They focused on areas surrounding Harris's apartment complex The Cottages and nearby Oso Bay, but nothing of note was uncovered, as FOX San Antonio reported. Despite the disappointing results, the Coast Guard remains ready to provide further assistance if called upon.
On the ground, a team led by Nina Glass from the non-profit Search and Rescue SATX diligently worked through challenging terrain. They pushed deep into the brush at the Laguna Madre in Flour Bluff, where they encountered a homeless encampment, yet found no traces linked to Harris, according to KIII TV. Glass, who has considerable experience in such operations, remains committed to providing the Harris family with answers.
The intense community effort has seen volunteers from New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi banding together, searching through high grass and dunes, and even kayaking along shorelines in hope of finding a clue. "We're out here just basically looking for anything that has to do with Caleb. Teal pants, white button-down shirt, iPhone, possibly a watch maybe. We're just out here looking. We haven't found- nobody has found a trace," Nina Glass told FOX San Antonio.
Caleb's distraught father, Randy Harris, expressed his gratitude towards everyone involved in the search and urged the public to "pray and keep his name out there on social media." Despite the mystery deepening with each passing day, with Caleb having disappeared without his keys, wallet, or shoes, hope flickers on as the united community and the Corpus Christi Police Department continue their relentless pursuit to find the missing student.
