A Maryland woman has been found guilty of sexually abusing a young child on multiple occasions, a DC jury ruled Wednesday. Griselda Martinez-Moz, 42, was convicted of two counts of first-degree child sexual abuse with aggravating circumstances after a seven-day trial that laid bare her heinous acts against an eight-year-old.
U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and the MPD Chief Pamela A. Smith, revealed yesterday that the abuse took place in 2015 and 2016. The victim, betrayed by a close friend of their family, was subjected to sexual acts repeatedly by Martinez-Moz.
The confirmation of Martinez-Moz's guilt brings her face-to-face with a potentially life-altering sentence—life in prison without the possibility of release, as stated by the Department of Justice. Should there ever be a release, she would be mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
The Metropolitan Police Department was at the helm of the investigation that culminated in Martinez-Moz's conviction. The dedicated team behind the prosecution included Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kathleen Houck, Niki Holmes, and Dana Joseph, backed by Felice Roggen and Bryan Han, now scheduled the Honorable Michael O'Keefe to sentence on June 14, 2024.
