A joint drug control unit crackdown on Friday led to the arrest of a Dorchester man on a slew of firearm and drug charges, law enforcement officials announced. Joseph Vilbrun, 25, was nabbed by officers after a search warrant was executed at about 2:00 PM by the Drug Control Units of District C-11 (Dorchester) and B-3 (Mattapan).
The search laid bare a cache of illicit items including two firearms with defaced serial numbers and a significant quantity of drugs. Among the findings were a Sig-Sauer P365 handgun, complete with a live round poised in the chamber and a magazine loaded with eight rounds, alongside a Ruger LCP2, also with an obliterated serial number and an extended mag containing eight further rounds, Boston Police reported. In the same sweep, cops also uncovered an additional 85 rounds of unsecured ammunition.
But the firepower wasn't all that officers found. The search warrant also led to the discovery of an assortment of drugs, including 180 grams of cocaine and approximately 14 grams of heroin. Alongside the narcotics, $2,300 in cold hard cash was seized as potential proceeds from drug sales.
Vilbrun's list of charges reads like a rap sheet for a seasoned criminal: Two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, trafficking of class B, and possession with intent to distribute class A, drugs. Following his arrest, the 25-year-old suspect is slated for arraignment in Dorchester District Court, the police added.
