In a recent apprehension following a spate of sexual assaults, Dunwoody Police have taken into custody 20-year-old Darin Pyatt. This arrest comes after a string of incidents around the Perimeter Mall area, where Pyatt allegedly targeted multiple women over the course of eight months.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Pyatt now awaits legal proceedings in Fulton County. The Dunwoody Police Department has not yet disclosed specifics on the sequence of events leading to Pyatt's arrest; however, they have assured that more information will soon become available.
Details from the investigation reveal that the accused is linked to four separate assaults between June 2023 and Leap Year Day. Sgt. Michael Cheek of the Dunwoody Police stated, "Two of them, he’s actually followed them, committed the offense and then left," highlighting the minimal interaction the perpetrator had with the victims. These women, whose ages range from their mid-20s to early 50s, faced these attacks in highly public settings, including two instances at Perimeter Mall, one behind the mall's parking deck, and another at a nearby Target store, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Officials were able to identify Pyatt with the assistance of mall security and from a separate incident in another jurisdiction. "He has followed these females and when he gets close enough to them, one in particular, he grabbed a female’s buttocks and then ran off," Michael Cheek described in an interview with Atlanta News First. The boldness of these public offenses, not commonly seen according to authorities, has prompted a heightened vigilance in the community.
