An Ecorse man with a history of sexual misconduct has been charged with a string of brutal sexual assaults on two elderly women and a young teen girl. Michael Shawn Holcomb, 52, faces multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct and torture after a harrowing day of alleged violence in separate incidents, law enforcement officials said.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy characterized the allegations against Holcomb as demonstrative of his "dangerous" and "predatory behavior," as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. Earlier in the day before the attacks on the elderly sisters, Holcomb is accused of assaulting a 13-year-old in Allen Park. The girl was allegedly attacked at around 8 a.m. on Meyer Avenue before Holcomb fled, later targeting two sisters, a 78-year-old and an 85-year-old in Dearborn.
Officials reported from the scene on Carlysle Court that the elderly victims were subjected to a prolonged and severe assault. Both were subsequently hospitalized and are in stable condition. Allen Park Police Chief Christopher Egan, with over 28 years of experience on the force, said this is "one of the worst cases" he's seen, expressing full confidence in the justice system to find redress for the victims.
In statements obtained by The Detroit News, Prosecutor Kym Worthy reflected on the depravity of the assaults, remarking on their brutality and expressing a stark reaction to the heinousness of the offenses. Having been convicted for second-degree criminal sexual conduct in June 2010, Holcomb was already on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry.
