Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra, best known as ELO, is gearing up to bid farewell to its touring days with "The Over and Out Tour." This summer and fall, the iconic rock band will grace stages across North America one last time, concluding a legacy that has spanned over five decades. The 27-date tour will start in Palm Desert, California, on August 24 and make its final bow in Los Angeles, California, on October 25, sources including Rolling Stone and American Songwriter reported.
The tour, aptly named “The Over and Out” tour by the band, is expected to draw crowds with its nostalgic repertoire, including classics like "Mr. Blue Sky" and "Evil Woman." Fans eager to catch the final performances can look for tickets sales beginning March 22, as reported by KOIN. Jeff Lynne, who has also made a name for himself as a producer for stars like Tom Petty and Roy Orbison, has steered ELO's resurgence since 2001 after initial disbandment in 1986. Portland's Moda Center, expecting a packed house on August 30th, is just one of the stops along ELO's sentimental farewell tour.
Resurrection of ELO over the years has seen its fair share of drama, with past fissures between Lynne and other former ELO members, most notably drummer Bev Bevan. The forthcoming final lap by Jeff Lynne's iteration of ELO, which last serenaded Portland in 2019, is poised to be a sentimental singalong for devotees of this staple of 70's and 80's airwaves, as Rolling Stone points out. Lynne has only occasionally brought former members along for the ride, with Richard Tandy being a notable exception.
Uncertainty hovers over whether the band will hang their collective hat for good post-tour, but "The Over and Out Tour" definitely signals an end to their expansive touring days. For those angling for presale access, artist presales and VIP package presales start on March 20, while Live Nation presales kick off on March 21 according to American Songwriter. Fans can arm themselves with presale codes by making a beeline for the ELO website.
