An altercation between two taco shop employees escalated into violence in San Diego's bustling Gaslamp neighborhood, with one man left with a slash to the back and a cut finger, the San Diego Police Department reported.

The incident unfolded at approximately 5:41 PM yesterday at a taco shop located at 800 5th Avenue when a 35-year-old male victim and a suspect, described only as being in his 30s, stepped outside to continue a heated argument that began behind the storefront. Running from the location after the stabbing, the suspect was armed with a knife, according to the SDPD Watch Commander's Log.

In the wake of the clash, the victim received medical attention and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The violence breached the calm of the early evening as patrons nearby continued their activities, unaware of the turmoil that raged just steps away.

The suspect's attempts at evasion were foiled when he was arrested around 500 F Street, not far from the scene of the stabbing. The weapon used in the assault was also recovered by the authorities. Central Division officers are conducting a deep dive into the incident, which punctured the fabric of a district known more for its nightlife than for outbursts of public violence.
