The South Shore's gastronomy scene just got sweeter with the opening of Knead Bakery and Bistro in Scituate, where Food Network champion Victoria Donnelly dishes out her pastry prowess. According to a recent press release, the Harbor community can now savor an array of freshly baked pastries, wholesome breads, toasts, versatile salads, crafted sandwiches, invigorating smoothie bowls, and a selection of coffee and tea at 133 Front Street.
Donnelly's victory on "Cupcake Wars" in 2010 ignited her baking career, which included launching the now-shuttered Cakeology, Boston's cupcake hub, following an unsuccessful bid to start a mobile cupcake delivery due to city regulations. Her culinary narrative, blending an English upbringing with influences of Indian, French, Spanish, and English dishes, comes full circle by planting her new culinary venture in the heart of Scituate, where she focuses on the art of community-centered dining.
From the humble beginnings of her mother's diverse kitchen to the lights of television fame, Donnelly's endeavors in the sweet sector have snagged her the title of “a Millennial to watch” by the Boston Globe and a win for Best Cupcake at the New England Dessert Showcase. Knead Kitchen's website profiles her journey, noting four additional appearances on Food Network and lofty accolades obtained in the face of stringent city regulations that once blocked her food truck dreams.
Mingling the indulgence of butter-touched treats with the healthful balance of salads and smoothies, Knead Bakery and Bistro exemplifies Donnelly’s philosophy toward food as a conduit for connection, celebration, and education, within a stylishly contemporary setting, after she transitioned to the South Shore, aspiring to cultivate a bakery that resonated deeply with local folks while simultaneously raising her daughters, she first conceptualized to wield her whisk as a means of uplifting her new community.
