According to details issued on the City of Fort Worth's website, this strategic vision could transform the area into a bustling riverfront district, poised for economic and recreational prosperity.
HR&A, alongside Lake Flato, has presented plans to strategically phase development, to ensure not only immediate enhancements but also the long-term evolution of the locale. The strategy underlines the importance of creating a seamless, interconnected space around Panther Island, bolstering connections to nearby neighborhoods. "Panther Island is a generational development to create economic and recreational opportunities for Fort Worth communities and support continued growth as the city welcomes new businesses, residents and visitors," Aaron Abelson, managing partner for Texas of HR&A Advisors, told the City of Fort Worth.
The fortified vision for Panther Island was prompted by Fort Worth's explosive growth since the original plan was hatched in 2004. Now, with the city standing as the 13th largest and fastest-growing metropolis in the country, the new strategic vision proposes a governance structure to oversee development, and a diverse array of parks and green spaces, all centered around a unique waterfront district. The recommendations from HR&A Advisors aim to align with community desires and Fort Worth's Economic Development Strategic Plan, ensuring the project reflects the dynamic future envisioned for the city.
As Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker stated, the inclusion of diverse community voices has been essential in fully shaping the new Panther Island concept. "When we talk about the future of development in Fort Worth, citywide and on Panther Island, it is vital to have stakeholder and community voices at the table guiding that direction," Parker said, according to the City of Fort Worth. The updated strategic vision, flavored by local input, speaks of a connected, mixed-use neighborhood and a waterfront destination designed to enhance and complement the vibrancy of surrounding areas.
