Fire officials quickly responded to the scene after 5:30 p.m., evaluating and transporting the injured parties to the hospital. While the tree was indiscriminate in whom it landed, the injuries were reported as minor by the fire department, yet the specter of what could have been loomed over Golden Gate Avenue.
All four adults involved in the accident have been taken to an area hospital for further evaluation. The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed the minor nature of the injuries, easing concerns of passersby and those caught in the subsequent traffic snarl.
As crews worked tirelessly, the intersection remained obstructed, as stated by CBS News, urging drivers to consider detours. Until the San Francisco Department of Public Works could make it to the scene to dissect and discard the arboreal debris, continued delays on Laguna Street were expected.
With the stormy weather, fire officials also urged motorists to exercise caution and reduce their speed to avoid further incidents.
