Tragedy struck in Genesee County when Timothy Kildee, brother of Congressman Dan Kildee, was shot and killed in a violent series of events involving his son, UP North Live reported. According to Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson, a domestic dispute early Tuesday escalated rapidly, resulting in the death of the 57-year-old and the suspect's subsequent crash in a stolen truck.
The chaos began with a call to Burton Police reporting domestic violence where the 27-year-old suspect displayed a gun, and it spiraled out of control after he left on foot and his birth mother attempted to return him to his father's home, an event confirmed by WNEM. The suspect later demanded his father's wallet and keys, and during the altercation, one shot was fired, killing Timothy Kildee the other son in the home's basement said he heard the argument and the fatal shot authorities have pieced together this timeline, though the investigation remains active.
In less than ten minutes after the shooting, the suspect was involved in a high-impact car crash in Genesee Township, a detail provided by WWJ Newsradio. The crash resulted in serious injuries requiring hospitalization for the suspect, who now faces a slew of potential charges including open murder, carjacking, and armed robbery according to statements from Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.
