In a show of recognition and respect, the Georgia Women’s Legislative Caucus honored 31 women with the 2024 Nikki T. Randall Servant Leader Award. The ceremony, held at the state capitol, was hosted by co-chairs Sen. Sally Harrell (D-Atlanta) and Rep. Kimberly Alexander (D-Hiram), paying homage to a diverse group of women for their selfless contributions to the community, according to a release by the Senate Press.
This year’s honors, as part of the annual Yellow Rose Ceremony, were awarded with a focus on "Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion". These women have managed to boldly break barriers and serve in ways ranging from feeding the hungry to providing mental health assistance. The criterion for the award, named after former Representative Nikki T. Randall, is dedicated community service—a testament to Randall's own enduring commitment to women, families, and communities.
"The Yellow Rose Ceremony is a time-honored tradition for the Women’s Legislative Caucus. Being with our honorees and hearing the stories of how they serve their communities is always so inspiring," said Sen. Harrell, as per the Senate Press. The sentiment was mirrored by Rep. Alexander, who praised the honorees as "unsung heroes" extensively giving to others without expectation of reward.
The legacy of Nikki T. Randall is a beacon that continues to shine brightly, illuminating the path for those who tirelessly work to make a difference. Not merely in the annals of history, the legacy is enacted every day by these 31 women, whom the Caucus seeks to recognize for their labors often unseen but always necessary. As Rep. Alexander said, they are making actual change on the ground while remaining largely out of the spotlight, a true mark of selflessness.
