Goodyear's new fire station is blazing a trail in firefighter health and safety with its grand opening in Arizona. Station 188, which was unveiled on February 29, stands as the third installation in the city equipped with state-of-the-art cancer-preventing measures designed to shield the brave men and women who serve the community from long-term health risks associated with their line of work.
"Public safety is always our top priority," Mayor Joe Pizzillo said. With a layout that reduces the firefighter’s exposure to carcinogens, a specialized washer for thorough gear decontamination, and an exhaust system that eradicates hazardous fumes, the station is custom-built for the safety of those who protect residents, according to the City of Goodyear.

"The City of Goodyear prides itself in taking care of our residents and employees," Goodyear Fire Chief Paul Luizzi stated, highlighting the city's commitment to maintaining the wellness of firefighters both at the station and in the field.
