“Walmart’s new processing facility in Robinson is exciting news for Texas, creating millions in investment for the local economy and hundreds of new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans in Central Texas,” stated Abbott. The governor expressed confidence that Walmart's recognition of the state's economic potential would lead to continued prosperity for the region. The plan is seemingly set to notably bolster McLennan County’s position in the market, as well as the company's supply chain resilience,” Abbott added.

The new facility is expected to source most of its milk from Texas dairy farmers, ensuring a local and transparent supply chain. Walmart Manufacturing Vice President Bruce Heckman emphasized the company's commitment to providing high-quality milk to Texas and neighboring states. “We’re excited to be able to provide Texas and its surrounding states with high-quality milk sourced primarily from Texas dairy farmers,” Heckman said, as per the Office of the Texas Governor.

As an economic powerhouse in the retail sector, Walmart holds the top spot on the 2023 Global Fortune 500 list. The company operates a vast network of over 10,500 stores around the world, along with various eCommerce platforms. In Texas alone, Walmart employs more than 177,700 workers, and with the addition of the Robinson facility, is looking to further expand its operational footprint which includes approximately 590 retail units, 22 distribution centers, and three fulfillment centers across the state.
