Chaos ensued on the streets of Harris County when a traffic stop on March 22 sparked a high-speed chase — leading to a runaway suspect being snagged by a constable's canine. A Corporal with Constable Mark Herman's Office initiated the pursuit after attempting to pull over a stolen vehicle, sparking off a dramatic chase.
According to Constable Herman's Facebook page, the action unfolded in the 9300 block of Humble Westfield Rd., where the suspect refused to halt his vehicle, therefore, prompting the deputies into action. Following the suspect's abortive attempt to avoid capture, the vehicle was stopped, but the individual, undeterred, opted for flight on foot — setting the stage for a canine-led apprehension.
It was not long before Constable K9-Lanzo, a trained member of the force, tracked down the suspect. After a brief pursuit, Lanzo doggedly caught up to the man, later identified as Donald Stone. Stone's attempt at evasion came to an unceremonious end, cornered by canine prowess, a testament to the constable's office's multi-species law enforcement capabilities.
"Donald Stone was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrant and charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. His bond and court information have not been set at this time.” stated Herman.
