A vehicular mishap in Harris County has spiraled into a drug bust after deputies found cocaine in the possession of the driver. According to the Harris County Constable's Office, Leslie Patino was involved in a single-vehicle crash on FM 1960 Bypass Road West on March 23.
The response by deputies to the scene led to the discovery that Patino, aside from crashing, was harboring an illicit substance, specifically cocaine, an incident that swiftly transformed a traffic accident into a criminal matter, Constable Mark Herman provided the details of the arrest and charge in a statement posted on the precinct's official Facebook page.
Following her arrest, Patino was processed and consequently detained at the Harris County Jail, facing charges related to drug possession. "Leslie Patino was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Possession of Controlled Substance," Constable Herman's statement read, as the legal gears commenced turning with a bond set for Patino's release.
The legal stipulations attached to her processed charges were crystallized with a bond set at $1,000.00, a figure determined by the 179th District Court, marking the monetary threshold for her potential pretrial liberty should she opt to post it, her involvement in the traffic accident and subsequent drug charge casting a shadow over her immediate future.
