A Hialeah man has been slapped with charges for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend after their breakup, employing Apple AirTags to track her whereabouts and bombarding her with threatening voicemails. Roberto Janero-Quian, 57, found himself in cuffs on Thursday, as Miami-Dade jail records confirm he now faces charges of aggravated stalking and installing tracking devices.

The creeping odyssey began months after the severing of their relationship in October, with the victim claiming that Janero-Quian had been relentlessly stalking her since January, NBC Miami reported. She recounted how the relentless ex would drift by her home each day and once confronted her with three handwritten letters, disturbing in their nature, which were duct-taped to her car.

According to the arrest report, the unrelenting surveillance didn't stop at fly-bys and letters; the ex-partner allegedly hid Apple AirTags in the victim’s vehicle to trace her every move on at least two instances. After blocking Janero-Quian's number in an attempt to quell the harassment, she soon began receiving ominous voicemails from unknown numbers. "If she didn't call him, he would 'do something bad to her,'" the arrest report stated, as detailed by WFLA.

The mesh of technology and toxic obsession yields a dire warning about the perils lurking behind innovative gadgets. Held without bond, Janero-Quian now waits for the hammer of justice to come down, accused of transforming everyday tools into instruments of terror against someone who once shared his affections.
