A pre-dawn encounter turned fatal on San Antonio's west side when a homeowner, suspecting an attempted burglary, shot and killed a man near his car. The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday on the 8200 block of Micron Drive. KENS5 reports that upon arrival at the scene, San Antonio Police discovered the man deceased from a gunshot wound. The homeowner, who has not been charged, told officers he was preparing for work when he noticed a figure and some lights by his vehicle before he fired multiple shots.
Meanwhile, in a nearby but separate incident, another shooting claimed a life at a West Side apartment complex. The victim of this gunfire was found before the break of dawn, just before 4 a.m., off Micron Drive. According to FOX San Antonio, police have since detained one possible suspect related to the apartment complex shooting. Details regarding what precipitated the deadly event remain unclear as investigations continue.
The San Antonio Police Department is handling both cases. In the shooting involving the homeowner, law enforcement officials indicate that, at present, the shooter will not face charges. It remains to be determined whether the intrusion was real or perceived at the time of the fatal decision.
