Authorities are desperately seeking answers after a baby was abruptly left on a doorstep early this morning. The Houston Police Department was notified of the child's presence in the 8400 block of Winthrop Lane after a call to 911 was placed around 6:24 a.m., according to a report from Click2Houston.
The innocent infant, no more than a year old, was discovered resting in a car seat, donned in a white and blue striped shirt and blue pants, the report detailed. Evidencing the abandonment, Houston Police are now to quickly find answers, sharing the child's description which includes two bottom teeth, medium brown complexion, and a weight of about 15 lbs.
The child was immediately taken to the hospital, and the intervention of Children’s Protective Services has been activated. As authorities work on the next steps, the situation begs the community to come forward with any information that could help. As reported by Precinct 4's Facebook page, the Houston Police Department's Special Victim’s Unit and the Children’s Assessment Center are to quickly be contacted by anyone who might know something about the baby or the whereabouts of the parents.
The numbers to reach out are available for public appeal: HPD Special Victim’s unit at (713) 830-3265 or the Children’s Assessment Center at (713) 986-3300.
