Houston-area residents are bracing for a turbulent weather week, as severe thunderstorms rolling through today are expected to be followed by a fluctuating pattern of clouds, sun, and more storms, forecasters say. According to the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service, Houston will experience showers and thunderstorms, primarily before noon today, with the potential for severe weather and heavy rainfall. The blustery conditions won't stop there as partly cloudy skies take over tonight. The expected low is around 58 degrees with gusts possibly reaching up to 20 mph.

As Houston weathers the storms, the North winds offer a small respite with cooler temperatures hovering around the mid-60s to mid-70s over the next few days. However, unsettled weather looms on the horizon with Wednesday night bringing a 30% chance of showers and even higher chances on Thursday at 60%, NWS Houston reports. The skies should clear up somewhat, by Friday offering a bit of sunny reprieve to end the workweek.

In the meantime, boaters need to exercise caution on the open waters due to severe weather risks. A special marine warning for the area including the waters from High Island to Freeport extending up to 60 NM has been issued, highlighting the potential threat of hazardous weather conditions. As stated by the National Weather Service Houston Twitter account, the warning stays in effect until early morning.

Further down South, Florida is also gearing up for its share of weather adversities. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma notes that "there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms early Monday," particularly over sections of the northern and west-central Florida Peninsula. According to their Convective Outlook, these storms potentially moving inland off the Gulf of Mexico and may include risks of severe weather. Additionally, a significant trailing cold front is expected to sweep across the Gulf and Florida by Tuesday morning, introducing cooler, drier air in its path.
