A Houston man's life was tragically cut short when he was gunned down at a local party by a suspect allegedly inebriated and possibly influenced by prescription medication. According to KTRK, the 23-year-old victim was attending a gathering with 20 to 30 others yesterday evening when the incident occurred.
The suspect, said to be in his mid-20s, was purportedly under the heavy influence of alcohol and Xanax, leading other attendees to attempt to expel him from the celebrations. KTRK reports that as the rejected guest became more irate while waiting for his ride, the situation suddenly escalated, finally spilling into the street where it took a deadly turn.
The confrontation led to the suspect allegedly drawing a firearm and discharging it multiple times, striking the victim in the chest, arm, leg, and hand. Following the shooting, the injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, FOX 26 Houston echoed in their reporting.
Post the violent outburst, the shooter is said to have fled on foot. Police believe he resides in proximity to the area and have expressed confidence in swiftly bringing him to account. "We have a good idea of who the suspect is," HPD indicated, hinting at an imminent closure to the aggressive manhunt.
