Houston's streets are a little safer tonight after the arrest of Jose Manuel Camacho, 20, charged with the murder of Christopher Arellano, 21, during a daylight shooting last year, Houston police announced Monday.
The tragic incident took place at a business on Alder Drive on September 2, 2023, around 5:05 p.m., where Arellano, the unsuspecting victim found himself in the crosshairs caught and suffered multiple gunshot wounds while working on a car, and was later rushed to a local hospital, not by an ambulance, but by private vehicle where he succumbed to his injuries the following day, the Houston police said.
In their search for justice, HPD Homicide Division Sergeants A. Lopez and M. Arrington, along with Detective N. Sharp, pieced together this violent puzzle, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Camacho. The initial description of the suspect was broad – a Hispanic male about 6 feet tall with a slim build, cloaked in a black hoodie and khaki pants.
On Friday (March 22), culminating months of rigorous police work, HPD's South Gessner Crime Suppression Team apprehended Camacho without a hiccup, and he now faces murder charges in the 174th State District Court, said the City of Houston News.
