A man was shot during a robbery after he and a woman left the Houston Rodeo, as they discovered their vehicle was burglarized upon returning to where it was parked, about a mile from NRG Park, according to a FOX 26 Houston report. The shooting incident, which took place on the 8900 block of Interchange Drive south of I-610, escalated when a male suspect approached the couple asking to use their cell phone, and after being refused, he returned minutes later with a handgun.
During the altercation, where the suspect demanded the man's crossbody bag, a struggle ensued, “There was a tussle, and the suspect shot the victim at least twice in the torso." KHOU reported Lt. Riley saying, and afterward, the injured man was taken to a local hospital and is now in stable condition, the police didn't catch the fleeing suspect, who ran away on foot missing a shoe after the incident.
Fox 26 Houston described the suspect as an African American male missing a shoe, and the police are yet to confirm if the earlier vehicle burglary is connected to the violent robbery that followed. Witness reports or any information concerning the identity of the gunman has sought after, as the Houston Police Department's Robbery Division and Crime Stoppers have been involved in the case.
The suspect remains at large.
