
As Houstonians brace for a sultry day ahead, the National Weather Service anticipates mostly cloudy skies with a high nearing 81 degrees accompanied by gusty south winds ramping up to 25 mph, reports indicate. In expectations for the evening, conditions likely remain overcast as the mercury dips near a humid 70 degrees.
The NWS also issued a warning for beachgoers today, alerting to a high risk of rip currents across gulf-facing beaches, and they forecast an introduction of storm potential with a cold front anticipated late Monday, according to a Tweet from NWS Houston.
Monday ushers in more than just soaring temperatures with predictions of a high near 85 degrees, the atmosphere will carry with the south wind tussling anywhere between 10 to 20 mph, as gusts could reach up to 30 mph, the NWS Houston forecast further notes post-sunset, a damp change looms with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms expected to invade after 1 am.
Meanwhile, the severe weather plot thickens as the Storm Prediction Center out of Norman, OK has flagged an "enhanced risk" for severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, destructive winds, and tornadoes on Monday stretching from the southern Plains into the lower Ohio Valley conditions ripe for tempests brewing mayhem from southern Missouri to southern Illinois come Monday evening, according to their convective outlook.
It's not all grim skies, however, as the forecast suggests that by Tuesday, Houstonians may see a reprieve from the relentless clouds as skies are expected to clear, bringing a high of around 82 degrees into the region and Wednesday portends even sunnier skies with the thermometer capping at a comfortable 73 degrees.
