A shady gambling ring has been dismantled by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, with four individuals arrested. The bust took place on Monday at a nondescript structure, seemingly innocuous, nestled off Lakeview Drive near North Foster Road—a mere 10-minute stroll from the vibrant chatter of Paschall Elementary.
The raid, which unearthed a seedy operation unlike the playground games of nearby youths, netted about $5,000 and numerous gaming machines that now serve as evidence of the illicit activities that occurred. Sheriff Javier Salazar briefed that the arrests mark a hit against an organization that isn't part of a larger network but is one of those vulture-like entities preying on the hopes and meager means of those on fixed incomes, according to an interview obtained by FOX San Antonio.
This building on Lakeview Drive housed a den of vice that drew in unwitting individuals. Each of the four individuals arrested now faces charges that include engaging in organized criminal activity.
Investigators have been tailing threads of illicit bets and whispered wagers, this information also comes from Sheriff Salazar's debriefing cited by FOX San Antonio.
