Lacey Police are on the hunt for a hammer-wielding suspect after a brazen break-in at local health clinics. The man reportedly used a sledgehammer in the early hours of Monday morning to force entry into South Sound Behavioral Hospital. According to security footage, the suspect was spotted around 2:13 a.m., smashing the front windows to breach the hospital's lobby, FOX 13 Seattle reported.
Witnesses provided a description of the hospital marauder as a white male in his 30s, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with blonde hair and glasses. Once inside, the man allegedly took his destructive tool to several other doors, further intensifying the damage, MyNorthwest detailed. The suspect’s rampage did not stop at one location; Lacey police believe a string of similar incidents at different hospitals were orchestrated by the same individual.
The suspect left the scene before police could apprehend him, but the investigation carries on as authorities piece together the full extent of the vandalism and possible theft. With the damage done, the Lacey Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward as they actively seek the person responsible for this unusual crime spree.
Dinning even more urgency to the situation, the criminal left behind more than just shattered glass and broken doors. Fear now hangs in the atmosphere where healing should prevail, as staff and patients grapple with the violent intrusion. "He then smashed several doors inside the hospital and said he was ‘Just looking around,’” the suspect announced before fleeing, as recounted by victims to KIRO 7. The community now looks to law enforcement for swift action to ensure safety and restore tranquility to its healthcare facilities.
