Charles Ray Montgomery, aged 41, from Dacula, was arrested in connection with the violent encounter that took place on Feb. 26 along GA-316 near Duluth Highway, according to dash cam footage released by the police department and reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

The arrest followed multiple 911 calls by witnesses reporting shots fired from an SUV, the vehicle description provided helped the officers to locate and stop the SUV within 24 hours, resulting in Montgomery's arrest as seen in the dramatic dash cam video where officers are captured boxing in the SUV and commanding Montgomery to exit his vehicle, said officials. Investigators searching the vehicle discovered several firearms, which will undergo testing to confirm their use in the road rage incident; the victims in the targeted car narrowly avoided being hit by the bullets instead sustained injuries from the resulting flying glass, as Atlanta News First reported.

Moreover, bullet holes were found in the headrests of both the driver and passenger seats, indicating the severity of the attack. Fortunately, though the victims were hurt by glass shards no one was struck by gunfire, and the alertness and quick response of the callers and the police led to the swift capture of the alleged assailant.

Montgomery is now facing serious charges including two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and felony possession of a controlled substance; he is being held at the Gwinnett County Adult Detention Center without bond.
