A routine interstate journey turned deadly when a Louisiana man reportedly gunned down a fellow passenger on a Greyhound bus in Mississippi, law enforcement officials said. The shooter identified as 26-year-old Rashad Price of Slidell, Louisiana was arrested early Monday following a manhunt after fleeing the scene of the crime, as reported by WABE.

The incident, which left 25-year-old Jay Jackson of Decatur, Georgia dead, occurred near Ocean Springs on Interstate 10 around 11 p.m. Sunday night, Price was apprehended at about 3 a.m. Monday after local deputies noticed him crossing the same interstate, he is now charged with murder and is detained without bond at Jackson County Jail, where it remains unclear if he has an attorney, this was detailed in further statements obtained from local authorities.

According to the MBI, no other passengers were injured during the traumatic event which saw Price allegedly demand the bus driver to stop to allow his escape subsequent to the shooting; obliging, the driver exited the freeway to seek emergency assistance from law enforcement, they further elaborated that the gravity of the situation was heightened as the perpetrator managed to flee, prompting an urgent police response.
