A devastating fire ripped through a $1.5 million home in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, leaving little but ruins in its wake. The inferno, which kicked off around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, ravaged the expansive 4,000 square foot residence before firefighters could tame the flames. According to a report by WCVB, the flames appear to have originated from a car fire in the garage, perishing the dwelling; hence the extensive damage that reached the attic and ran the length of the home.

"Tough fire. It got up into the attic space, and extended the length of the house. The house suffered extensive damage," said Lynnfield Fire Department Chief Glenn Davis, in a statement obtained by WCVB. Fortunately, Lynnfield police reported no injuries in connection with the fierce blaze, providing a silver lining to an otherwise grim scenario.

Crews from multiple towns descended on the home, situated in Sherwood Forest section of Lynnfield, to assist in the firefighting efforts. The single-family home, described in property records to boast four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, had stood down a lengthy driveway, complicating efforts due to a lone water main by the road, which caused supply issues, as reported by Boston 25 News.

Amid the chaos, it was reported that the family, and their dog, made a narrow escape and avoided any harm. "Crews are still on the scene monitoring hotspots, and the cause of the fire is under investigation," Chief Davis told Boston 25 News. No injuries to the firefighters have been reported as they navigated the challenging conditions to quench the stubborn fire that would eventually claim the entire home.
