A Cook County man has been slapped with charges in a deadly highway shooting that occurred last week on the Bishop Ford Freeway. Myles M. Stanford, 36, from Lynwood, is facing a first-degree murder rap and a count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, Illinois State police announced.

According to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times, the shooting took place around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 94 near 103rd Street, where the troopers discovered a white Toyota riddled with bullets in its front and rear passenger side windows. The wounded driver was Victor Turner, 24, who was whisked away with life-threatening injuries to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries, confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Stanford was collared by authorities the following day. Investigators who allegedly pegged Stanford as the triggerman discovered him in possession of a weapon, per multiple reports. He's currently cooling his heels at the Riverdale Police Department until he faces the music at his first court hearing.

FOX 32 Chicago stated that state police had responded to a northbound ramp shooting on I-94, leading to the closure of 103rd Street. It's still not clear what led to the shooting, and the police haven't released any further details on the case.
