A routine traffic violation in East Boston took a dramatic turn last night when a Malden man was arrested on drug trafficking charges.
According to the Boston Police Department's official release, Jenttrey Serrano, 29, was stopped by officers from the A-7 Anti-Crime Unit near Maverick Sq after he ran a red light, this stop lead to a discovery that could put Serrano behind bars for a significant period of time.
The officers found Serrano to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license and during an inventory search of the vehicle, they uncovered a clear plastic container filled with cocaine amounting to 68.1 grams and a digital scale, which are indicative of drug trafficking activities. The police promptly took Serrano into custody following the recovery of these items.
Now facing serious charges, Serrano's apprehension highlights the ongoing efforts of the A-7 Anti-Crime Unit to address various community complaints regarding drug-related crime in the area, his arraignment is scheduled at East Boston District Court where he will answer to the charges of cocaine trafficking and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
