The search intensifies for two suspects still at large after a deadly heist turned homicide shook the Northeast Side. Kiavon Dotson, 21, already behind bars, faces capital murder charges following the brazen daylight execution of 27-year-old Cesar Estevan Garcia.
Held at gunpoint and mercilessly shot in the back, Garcia's murder, captured in graphic detail on security footage, unfolded outside a warehouse, his place of employment, near Northeast Loop 410 East on February 29, FOX San Antonio reported. Found lifeless by police, his body lay amidst shell casings and incriminating baggies of Glock "switches"—illegal modifiers transforming firearms into automatic weapons.
The investigation led detectives to Dotson, identified via social media messages to the victim clearly stating "pull up," along with the workplace address and a description of his black Hyundai waiting in the parking lot. Upon discovering a photo on Dotson's profile matching his 2023 mugshot, authorities made the connection that put him squarely under suspicion.
Just as revealing, a relative of Dotson's unmistakably identified him from the security footage and promptly informed police upon his return home that fateful night. Arrested at his residence, Dotson succumbed to the evidence and, during questioning, allegedly spilled the truth of his involvement. He claimed the murder of Garcia was not the plan but rather a deadly pivot when a robbery for coveted gun parts went south. As reported by FOX San Antonio, Dotson told detectives he and one accomplice fired shots while a third waited with the engine running.
Dotson now sits in Bexar County Jail, his freedom priced at half a million dollars bond.
