Chaos erupted on the streets of East Boston on Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2024, when a man allegedly assaulted and robbed a victim before being apprehended by local authorities. Police officers from District A-7 (East Boston) arrested 36-year-old Lenin Esteban Rios Ramos, charging him with armed robbery and assault and battery, the Boston Police Department reported.

The violent incident took place around 4:14 PM at 293 Border Street, where Rios Ramos is accused of attacking the victim with a knife, striking them with a rock, and kicking their head mercilessly all while to robbing them of approximately $500. Following the attack, a description of the suspect was promptly broadcasted by officers who later located an individual matching it, mingling with a crowd behind a building.

Upon detaining Rios Ramos, officers carried out a pat frisk, which led to the discovery of a black folding knife, a medium-sized rock, and a screwdriver in his possession. According to the official police report, Rios Ramos now faces an array of charges including armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to wit shod foot, and assault with dangerous weapons specifically, a screwdriver, and a rock.

With the legal apparatus in motion, Rios Ramos is set to be arraigned at the East Boston District Court.
